4. A Performance 
of the Social Fabric

Translating the performance of emotional labour into dance, and dance into a gradually growing weaving draft - as the grid heat maps it’s dancers movements. A Performance of the Social Fabric attempts to explicitly transform the subjects of emotional labour and textiles into a visual depiction. Emotional labour interpreted, ingested, and then mapped out - ready to be woven. 





Abstracting the idea of emotional labour and textiles, A Performance of the Social Fabric – SCORE takes audio clips and compiles them around a robotic, synthy and not very melodic soundscape - contrasting the initial connotations of emotions, labour and textiles being homebound, natural, slow, traditional methods - translating it from it’s conceived position, into a contemporary context. Then taking this digitisation back to traditional exports by depicting the non-instrumental audio in traditional sheet music score, the audio sources acting as lyrics and a kind of ‘exhibition guide’ to the accompanying video work.
