Using textiles as a medium to visualise the emotional labour required in the social navigation of the world. ‘A Trial and Error of the Social Carpet’ is a weaving caught in the process. Working off of a question poised by Arlie Russell Hoschchild “What does the social carpet consist of and what does it require of those who are supposed to keep it beautiful?” the gradual learning of emotional management knotted, woven and braided into it’s wefts and warps.
